Greeting Eagles! I'm happy to report that the culture camp was a huge success. During our time on the tundra students participated in activities such as berry picking, plant and bug identification, pond/water study, Honda care, card games, fishing, and language stories. All teachers and staff played an instrumental role in this week-long event; above all I'd like to give a special recognition to Jethro Albini and Rod Lloyd. They are the driving force behind this very important annual event. On Saturday we will break down camp and clean up the area, as well as to start to plan a winter experience and next year’s culture camp. Seeking community members to join the effort – if interested let me know! Speaking of leaders helping the school, we have multiple vacancies yet to fill for this school year. We are hiring! To see a listing of available jobs, please check out: https://www.applitrack.com/nsbsd/onlineapp/default.aspx.
With all of the excitement of the opening of school, culture camp, the borough’s 50th and Atqasuk’s 40th anniversaries, many are ready and rearing to return to the regular flow of our school year. We know that there are some students out there who have yet to register or attend this year; make no mistake that you are wanted here. If there is something I can do to work with you, just ask. We want all students to graduate, and acknowledge that there can be different paths to meet that goal.
Be well, Eagles.
